I thought I’d give you a little update about what I’ve been watching over the last few months which I have been loving and would recommend, all of which I rate highly🍿
911 – I binged all 9 seasons of this an I was OBSESSED! The first season took me a while to get through but after that I flew through it. The main cast from Season 2 onwards have a special place in my heart and so does the series itself when I caught up to Season 9 Episode 15 ‘Pick Your Poison’ had me in tears. I blame it on the binge
911 Nashville – I watched this because I seen a clip on Tik Tok, it spurred me to continue with 911 actually and I’m so glad I watched both of them. 911 Nashville only came out last year so the first season has just finished and the character relationship dynamics is what I seen in the Tik Tok and watching it only made this better such a fun way to play the firehouse, a raise for whoever came up with that!
Scandal – I’m watching this a the moment and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I am a Shonda Rhimes stan because I love Greys Anatomy & Bridgerton and Scandal is nothing less than what I would expect. I think I’m routing for the wrong couple but oh well! I love that you see so many characters who are also from the Greys universe it has helped that I recognised them. I’m at the start of Season 5 and still unsure of how it’s going to end which I like I’ve only seen 1 spoiler which made me sad as I think I’d have been more shocked watching it if I didn’t know it already.
The Lincoln Lawyer – Need I say more this was amazing, it was giving Suits but so different in it’s own way, again something I’m glad I got to binge as the season finales always had me on edge and I couldn’t have waited months for a new season. Thankfully the most current season had a cliffhanger but not one I was desperate for the answers too and I think the next season will be the last in the series so I hope it gets a good ending because goodness knows Mickey Haller deserves it.
Harlan Coben’s I Will Find You – I just finished this on Friday, I binged watched all 8 episodes in the one day and it did not disappoint, Harlan Coban’s stuff is great at engulfing my attention and keeping me guessing which I really enjoy. This specific show I really didn’t know who they villain was until the last episode, I kept stating who I thought it was while watching and what my theories were but I wasn’t right.
As a girly who loves a romcom I was very excited to watch ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’, even though I knew it had a sad touch to it. When I say I was hooked from the moment it started and sobbed multiple times throughout I mean it, could be one of my new favs because it had everything I love and more in a movie.
I love movies that are feel good but can give a emotional edge to them, but I guess sometimes that’s down to what triggers emotion for you and what would make you cry. I love Mamma Mia but the second movie makes me cry a lot due to personal experience of losing my mum and I thought about that a lot when watching ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’. I don’t have a sister but missing someone I understand and that’s all I thought about in those touching moments throughout especially when Jill (Zoey Deutch) says to Wes (Nick Robinson) that she doesn’t need someone to love she wants her sister back.
This movie had everything I want from a film laughter, romance, tension and sadness. An emotional rollercoaster if you will, the first 30 minutes had me on edge as I knew I was going to cry as it was quite obvious where the storyline was going, broke my heart watching them in the hospital. However, you then get funny moments with Wes (Robinson) listening to the voicemails, Jill (Deutch) calling out a guy who stood her up and her work environment was really weird but was a source of entertainment throughout the movie. The romance and tension between Deutch & Robinson’s was sensational, they had great chemistry and we stan Wes (Robinson) for not fully letting anything happen because he hadn’t been honest yet about the voicemails and slept on the couch. When Jill did find out about the voicemails that was the worst way she could have and you could see how distraught they both were about it in the following scenes.
The ending was what got me the most just how considerate Wes is and Jill now feeling like she can move on in a sense, then Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’ which we seen in a scene at the start playing and Jill getting to dance to that with Isabelle showing in the background and then Wes joining in, actually stop it was too much for my heart to take, took me a while to fully calm myself down after it had finished. It was so emotional but in the best way, something you know if you want a cry you can always go back too.
Voicemails for Isabelle 🍿🍿🍿 popcorns for this lovable must-watch!
This is a show I really love, I binged it last summer from June until September, 18 Seasons, 3 months, madness I know. It has everything I like in a show, lovable characters, a family feeling to the team and yes, even the crime stuff is interesting I love a true crime documentary so when someone told me about this show I was hooked from the off. I seen the growth of all the characters and even shed a few tears saying goodbye to some of the most loved faces from the show. So when I heard the new season was coming out I was so excited and thought I’d share my thoughts so far after watching the first 3 episodes.
The first episode was nothing less of what I expected for a season opener from Criminal Minds, ‘Sound of Silence’ booming watching a car drive down a deserted road. The storyline this episode followed was quintessential BAU, a survivor of a kidnapping who mentioned she birthed twins and finding out they are the unsub’s going to their dad the original kidnapper with evidence of what they were doing, blew my mind! Then another episode with an equally as spine-tingling, army vets getting lobotomised by an unsub in pain due to a tumor which is risky to fix, did not see that one coming after the first scene, always a plot twist you don’t see coming.
The third episode storyline, although he is seen and mentioned in the first 2 episodes is based around a mother and daughter who went missing 4 years ago and because they find one of Sicarius’ kits at the crime scene thinking he has done this. In the end we find out it wasn’t him but he was going to take the fall for it, after last season I didn’t think we would see any more of him but here he, they keep hinting at an escape which I really hope doesn’t happen because it means more of his storyline. I am enjoying watching this season but the original appeal of Criminal Minds was the fact that each episode was a new unsub and sometimes a more prominent one that ran over the course of a season along side these individual episode ones. Elias Voit/Sicarius and his network has had 3 seasons of cover and although it looks like they are introducing a new unsub that might come to light in the coming episodes from the small snippets we’ve seen of them I think they will use Voit/Sicarius to help the BAU find the unsub.
However, Voit aside it is nice to get an insight into the BAU’s team and there lives, like JJ and her boys moving after what happened to Will. Alvez losing Roxi, that was hard to watch she’s been his best bud for so long. We have Tara and Rebecca being married, classic Prentiss & Rossi moments and Penelope enjoying being the baby girl she is – you go get it girl Derek Morgan would be proud. These moments give the seriousness of the job part of Criminal Minds a softer edge but in no way dulling the horribleness of the acts committed. I am a hypocrite for saying that continuing the Voit storyline is annoying because bringing back Brian Garrity to annoy Emily was so funny, she is just so unsettled by him but they seem to conclude whatever was going on but I have no doubt he’ll be back. The podcast scene was incredible Voit calling out all the listeners was giving me Joe Goldberg’s final point in the finale of ‘You’ giving it out to the consumers of the podcast.
I am intrigued to see where they go with the rest of this season the ending of episode 3 gives a glimpse of the new unsub getting ready to something big after being annoyed by Voit’s comment on the podcast, sending all that paper with ‘I am not pathetic’ on it. Could the paper be a code as it’s all in different shapes, and once the unsub is on the BAU’s radar we will start to learn the behavioural analysis and see what they continue to do. I am still hoping for Penelope to find love and I would be so happy if it was with Tyler or Alvez she has a great connection with them both but she also had that with Derek and I think rightfully that always stayed as friends but Alvez and Tyler seem not solely friendships with either of them.
This movie really set the tone from the off using fantastic music like ‘Celebration’ by Kool & The Gang and Bryan Adam’s ‘Summer of 69’, performed by Rick Power (Paul Rudd) as the lead singer of a wedding band called ‘The Bride and Groove’. If that is Rudd actually singing I cannot believe how good he is. His band mate tells him to ‘stick to the classics’ as everyone left the dancefloor when he sang an original song but you can see the passion he has for music which is truly inspiring.
Before we even meet Danny Wilson Nick Jonas’ character we can tell this movie is going to contain humor if you didn’t realise it with it being set in Ireland and how they are known for their craic, then you would have when they walked towards the wedding they were performing at and had a cheeky look at the ladies, but where it really gets you is after this moment they go on a phone and see a video of Danny Wilson (Jonas) but they have to get their glasses on to see due to there age, which I laughed out loud at.
We are then introduced to Danny Wilson by him performing with Rudd’s band at the bride and grooms request singing next up on the setlist ‘I Wish’ by Stevie Wonder. After the wedding Rudd and Jonas link up and have a jamming session, filled with some really funny moments, like Rick (Rudd) being blow away by the size of Danny’s (Jonas) suite or Rick saying ‘Yeah, I watch TV’ like Danny thinks he’s too old for it. They share music together and keep talking about ‘throw in some spice’ and towards the end we hear the song ‘How To Write a Song (Without You)’ which is the main piece for the movie. Once the night is over and it’s time to leave after getting on the bus a worker at the hotel comes out and gives Rick (Rudd) a guitar from Danny (Jonas) showing just how great of a time they had together, which I think is significant for what happens next.
The journey then begins of what the movies main storyline is Danny (Jonas) goes back to LA and he is struggling to write, he then starts playing the song Rick (Rudd) was playing and girlfriend Marcia thinks it’s beautiful. Six months later it is then a HIT (which totally is, such a catchy song) and Rick then hears it in a shopping mall and is trying to tell everyone it is his song but he has no proof, his friends and family are very skeptical.
We see Rick’s attempt to contact Danny’s team, takes him a while to get in touch with the manager who makes sure to cut it off, the music video is very questionable but like I said it’s a good song. I loved the use of old clips of Nick to show his success as Danny in this movie, along with when they do interview with the likes of Jimmy Fallon in this instance to market the celebrity in the film, it’s very alternate universe. On the other side of this while Danny has so much success, Rick’s life is declining he quits the band, his family are mocking him, he ends up leaving his family when earlier in the film you see him and his wife so in love.
We get so much more humor in the final stages of the film, Rick and his friend from the band Sandy get emotional together, Rick dreams about getting credit for the song but it turns into a nightmare when people can’t hear him sing. After making it to LA and getting to an afterparty where Danny and Rick come face to face again at a hot tub of all places – on guy clothed, the other guy you can guess who was originally in there with some groupies – we have a comical fight between the two, both of them get injured and Rick and Sandy make a great escape.
Finally, Rick comes to terms with not getting credit for the song and he sings it for a couple where I appreciated the use of showing the couple on the dancefloor themselves so it makes it feel like they are just completely on their own but actually when we see it again it’s a crowded one. However, it ends as it should with his daughter who he wrote the song for originally all those years ago finds the recording of Rick singing it by chance in the background of a family video, ultimately meaning he has proof to get credit for the song.
I could not recommend this movie more it is funny, light hearted and so sweet. Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas make such an outstanding pair, but we have so many great supporting actors who add to the humor and heart of the movie. The ending also highlights what teenage/parent relationships are like, Rick’s daughter didn’t seem much interested in her parent which most aren’t but in the end she believed in what he was saying and was so proud.
When I say my jaw was on the floor at the ending to episode 2, I just had to watch the next one immediately and it did not disappoint. I know Tony is out for the Venturer guys but humiliating not only Rupert but his ex-wife and many others. In true Rivals style though when Marcus asks Helen what a foursome is she says it’s “Another word for a quartet”, always humor even in the more serious moments. Rupert is unravelling and spiralling so it’s no wonder when he turns up at Helen and Malise’s house that Malise sprays him with water, I really enjoyed seeing there relationship in this episode I think Malise is good for Rupert and protective of him.
Although when Venturer are talking about kicking Rupert out they are having a laugh about the things Rupert has gotten up to, but you can see a lot of growth in Rupert he doesn’t want to be a player anymore. There is parts in the episode you think things could be looking up for him since he wins his seat in the election but he has to resign and he also loses his seat on the board with Venturer.
I loved that ‘Making Your Mind Up’ was played on election day, very clever. There was also intense music around the scenes of the election and the board meeting but my favourite thing was the Chicken Song they dance and sing to when Rupert has won the election.
Sarah runs back to Paul after only 24 hours away from him, Tony and Monica see to be on a good run and with Tony shutting Beattie down you think he has finally changed and won’t be taking up a new mistress any time soon. Declan and Maud are at odds again and I think when Tony sees Declan didn’t come to the play and Monica suggests they have dinner with her and she should be the star of Corinium’s new show which for them to talk to her about it and her consider is WILD!
My favourite line of the whole episode is from James Vereker when he says “if it ain’t got that swing, it don’t mean a thing”, he is such a comedic character and underrated, I don’t think he’s a good husband for Lizzie but he has his own quirks. Talking of Lizzie her and Freddie has a sweet scene over potato waffles, fish fingers and her kids seem to really like him.
Getting the first 3 episodes and then having to wait a week for 4 was hard bit it was worth the wait, I think it could have been my favourite episode so far this season! So many exciting things happening for characters that make the story so juicy.
I thought I was watching The Lion King for a second when episode 4 first started, loved the montage of them getting ready for a big meeting which, of course, ends up being at Corinium where you find out Maud will be playing Titania in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. This could be an unpopular opinion but I lowkey love Tony and Monica together, something about it makes sense, I imagine it being quite fun when they first got together.
To give a quick rundown of bits, Lizzie has a bidding war for her book, Declan is so enthusiastic about everything, Taggie and Caitlin have such a nice relationship “salty orange juice” had me in stitches, Freddie is reading Lizzie’s book how no one realises its about them with the names being Ferdy & Lettie and Tony loves to push people’s buttons. Now we are up to speed on those small moments I can get into the big stuff.
Declan and Maud have an argument about Tony just wanting her in the play to annoy Declan, which it seems to be working, when Maud tells Tony this with what he says I feel like he could be being manipulative but when you see him watch her in the play his look changes like something has registered. The same thing happens to Declan he looks memorised by her in the play he actually cries, after however the conversation they have pushes Maud further away and with Declan being in Corinium you hear the theme song as it comes in on those tense moments.
Rupert has a really cute moment with Tabitha as she runs away from her mum to him, since Helen stops the kids from seeing him and she tells Rupert she wants full custody, when they leave Tabitha gives Rupert an opal fruit she saved for him which I found adorable.
Taggie and Bas are sat next to each other during the play and he took her home from the bar, James is acting like a loved up schoolboy with this extra in the play, Deirdre looks like she could really hurt someone due to this cause she’s obviously in love with James. When James ends up not making it for the second part of the play Charles goes on instead, he is a great character and him and Gerald I love, they get a more heart breaking scene in this episode that really hit the feels. I also picked up a vibe between Monica and Enid Spinks after the play.
We got another great scene between Freddie and Lizzie that was incredibly steamy, I do wonder why she keeps her eyes open for a few seconds when they first start kissing before she closes them. Lizzie comes back to the play with wet hair and Monica makes a comment about her hair smelling like chlorine after Freddie’s wife says their place stinks of chlorine, so she knows something is going on. James then states “I don’t deserve you” to Lizzie which will just make her feel more guilty.
But the stand out moment at the end of the episode is when Maud goes into Tony’s office and they start talking and I was out my seat screaming they are going to have an AFFAIR, just as she unbuttons her top in front of him and throws an item of clothing at him. So, I’m counting down the days until episode 5 as I think it’s only going to get better.
Not only do I just binge watch shows, I become obsessed with them and Rivals is a show that since it’s first season premiere I have been hooked. So, I thought I would give you all the thoughts and feelings on the new drop of episodes!
As it’s based in the 80s it starts of strong with such a great decade of music, making the soundtrack one of my favourites, cause the 80s is just iconic so many hits. The opening title credits could be my favourite of all time, it is sensational.
It’s all just doe so cleverly the first episode of Season 2 starts with a recap of the finale and when Cameron says ‘Help me’ to Rupert the music building all the atmosphere cuts which I thought was so good. ‘Let’s Dance’ by David Bowie plays, lots of instrumental music that sound very similar to the theme song plays. It didn’t take long for it to bring in the humor and nudity but it’s Rivals, would we expect anything less, it’s what makes it the spectacle it is.
There is so many things I picked up on in this episode that sets up what they could be planning for the rest of the season. You get to see moment’s of Taggie and Basil, which I am here for cause it will make Rupert jealous before they get Rupert and Taggie together. Declan and Maud seem to be on the rocks, she kicks him out of the hotel room after she realises he didn’t actually watch her play and Pat Butcher makes an appearance before Declan runs naked down the hallway. I also want to say I’m not condoning an affair but Freddie and Lizzie with a little look, slight touch of the finger that no one else sees I am obsessed can they just get together now! Sarah Stratton is pregnant and it’s Tony’s he is as vain as ever with wanting to see his name on the end credits of a programme on the TV and Monica giving him sass I feel like she’s a silent assassin who could take him down.
So much going on and I think that along with the very careful way they write the script that has you holding onto every word, Lizzie with “Hurting my heart” or Taggie saying to Rupert “You aren’t capable of love”, it all hits you right in the feels. I was taken with the way they show the switch of the cameras to the vintage 80s vibe from the modern portrayal we watch, it’s done so seamlessly.
Tony is really out for blood this season especially after Cameron embarrasses him at the polo match so he can’t use what she done to him against her, the little zoomed in kiss to end the episode I laughed at and though it fit the styling since it is a show based in the 80s and that was a done thing back then.
We continue into episode two and no surprise more sex! We get to meet Helen, Rupert’s ex-wife, played by the incredible Hayley Atwell who is a new addition for this season, she is naturally witty and it was a great first impression.
Everything in Rivals is so vibrant and colourful considering it’s set in England, but I guess that’s the power of TV, you can make it do whatever you want. I felt really bad for Sarah in this episode Tony is trying to say she’s making a power move with saying the pregnancy is his and then to make matters worse Paul is comparing her to his ex-wife. Although, her kitchen scene was a masterpiece, cut-takes, chaos and Paul and Tony together were so awkward so I think that’s a little bit of payback for them both.
We got to see more of Rupert and Taggie in this episode he goes to help her when she is spiralling about her recipe for Sarah’s dinner party being ruined, he sounded so soft when he spoke to her which we’ve never seen from him with Cameron. Not only is Taggie great with his kids, they still have that all consuming tension. However, they were still teasing Bas and Taggie, he gives a look showing he isn’t surprised when we finds out Taggie isn’t in the kitchen like everyone thought and when Taggie is with Rupert at the resturant we see Bas looking over at her giving the idea he feels something for her cause Bas makes a comment to Rupert about them being out together with his kids.
I was really enthralled by the humor in this episode, so many quotes that had me chuckling, the first being when Rupert teased Cameron saying “Hitting with a show jumping trophy”, might have been a bit to soon to make that comment to her but as a viewer it was perfec banter. You do see a lovely side of Rupert with his kids, a lot of humor but the kids have standout moments in this episode with the unintentional teasing statements they make, Marcus starts us off with “Do you think she’ll come back” talking about Cameron when she heads to Ireland with Declan. Then after running in with Taggie who swiftly avoids coming to tea with Rupert, Tabitha says “I don’t think she likes you daddy” which is ironic cause we all know the situation.
And I’ll talk more about the episode 2 ending in my next post, cause WOW was Rupert done dirty!
We really are entering a new era of rom-coms and it’s truly refreshing ‘Finding Emily’ starts with a posing question of ‘Love is a state of temporary psychosis’ – Sigmund Freud. The film really gives a flip on the the whole norms of a rom-com, usually it’s the girl who has all these positive outlooks of love but not in this case Owen (Spike Fearn) is a hopeless romantic. Whereas, Emily (Angourie Rice) is doing studies on how love is a modern hangover, that at one point in time it was fundamental but now doesn’t feel like it’s needed as much, not sure if this opinion stems from the guy who’s been leading her on the whole time she’s been at university.
Owen (Fearn) meets a girl at the Student Union who he feels a connection with, she gives her number as she leaves but when he goes to text it’s told there’s a digit missing from her number. After looking for Emily, he’s introduced to another Emily (Rice) who then uses him as a case study for her thesis on love. They work together to even with Rice thinking he is delusional to track down the Emily and as rom-coms go they end up realising who they thought they wanted isn’t meant for them.
Emily (Rice) is a relatively normal girl, smart, opinionated and has one panic when Owen decides he’s given up. Owen on the other hand is cheeky but an overthinker, he spirals talking fast and really showing his emotions which you don’t often see from men in films. He is grieving as well and I resonated with that as a viewer and even those without the same experience can see the vulnerability from him. This connection between them makes for so many humorous times, like when they argue and sweet moments when he eats the coleslaw and chips even when you can see on his face he hates it but he doesn’t want her to take the criticism from the other guy or when he helps her cause she got her lip busted in the crowd. I was captivated by their connection, so many small moments you could tell they were starting to fall for each other, it was done in such a striking way.
Not only does it flip the norms of rom-coms but the humor is fantastic, with such good chemistry between the protagonists and the main supporting actors you are left with sharp wit and laugh-out-loud moments. There was no holding back with a girl peeing in a urinal just a couple of minutes in, Owen and his brother’s relationship with back and forth banter and Emily’s friend and her sarcasm. However, the part that had me giggling the most was when Emily (Rice) is apologising to her friend with a cake after they had a falling out and what she does to the cake, if you know, you know, I won’t spoil it.
Something I really enjoyed was how they showed that the email has been sent to all the Emily’s collectively rather than a blind copied email, Owen (Fearn) walking through his house with all these Emily’s commenting on how they feel about the email. The other Emily’s make a good addition to the film with the president of them being a Scottish girl advocating for the intrusion on their privacy with the email addresses being leaked and this community that forms due to situation. Social media plays a big part of it all blowing up, everyone’s talking about it making assumptions so I respected Owen was adamant to go on the podcast and clear his name, which parallels to later in the film when Emily (Rice) uses it to reach out to him as he won’t answer her calls.
I have to give a standing ovation, hands of applause to the people who decided what music was getting used in this film as it was perfection from the get go. ‘Blue Monday’ New Order started us off strong, ‘Let’s Have a Kiki’ was in there, ‘There’s a Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)’, Carly Rae Jepsen popped up, I just felt like the music was all so intentional and well placed. Then you had the moments if was brought in involving the characters like when Owen wrote a song for the Emily he was trying to find – which you actually find out eventually her name was Amelie and that’s why he couldn’t find her – he’s an amazing singer, also him and his brother having a sing along in the car. Then you had Emily and her friend dancing it out to Nia Archive’s ‘Off Wiv Ya Headz‘, safe to say these songs will all be on repeat for me for the foreseeable.
This film for me has really started the new wave of rom-coms I feel like we are getting, a flip of the normal gender roles in a movie but still the same classic ending of them getting together and it felt only fitting that even when admitting that they like each other they made a joke out of it. From beginning to end it had me hooked and it’s not to skip over if you enjoy a a lot of the classic rom-coms.
I have watched a few movies over the last week so I thought I would give a mini review on them to tell my thoughts, feelings and if I recommend:
Michael – I went to see this with my family in IMAX what an experience the sound and film quality was amazing, really worked for this biopic. I didn’t know a lot about Michael Jackson’s earlier life so finding out his dad worked them really hard, that he cared for more exotic animals and that people were constantly fainting at him performing. I grew up on Michael Jackson’s music so was dancing and lip syncing along in my seat, the music bits like ABC live on tv, the dance choreography scene, recreating the Thriller music video, that must have been surreal for Jaafar Jackson Michael’s nephew who plays him in the movie and the ending with Bad makes you feel like you are there watching it live. Overall, I think this was a great biopic intrigued to see the sequel that seems to be coming, hoping for just as much music and hopefully a more in depth look into Michael’s life, fingers crossed for a Man in the Mirror performance as it’s one of my favourite MJ songs.
Reminders of Him – I went to see this when it came out in the cinema as it is on of my favourite books and the movie adaptation did not disappoint. I have read the book twice I sobbed the first time I read it and read it in a day, the movie hit all the right bits I wanted it too. This was the first time I’d seen work by Tyriq Withers or Maika Monroe and they were amazing as Ledger and Kenna, the CHEMISTRY! Lady Diana who lives in in the apartments that Kenna stays in is exactly what I expected her to be love that she backed Kenna when Ledger was helping prevent Kenna seeing Diem, her daughter. Loved the use and moments about music in this film, The Night We Met’ played on the flashback of Kenna meeting Scotty for the first time and this melted my heart. ‘Yellow’ by Coldplay played 3 times all towards the end of the film and there was a funny scene about all music being sad then Ledger makes Kenna a happy playlist. I don’t think I fully understood the freaking pigeon joke until I seen it in the film comes up a lot that I didn’t notice until the second time around but love that it keeps everyone connected to Scotty. Love love love this film and the book so please give it a watch if you want a movie with a mix of emotions that gives you all the feels.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 – The original movie is one I go back to a lot it’s on of those early 2000s movie that just hi different. For there being a 20 year gap between them the humour is still the same with just little tweaks to make it more modern, the fashion has changed with time and was on point in this film. So many moments that you can take from the new movie and refer back to the original, especially in the conversation between Andy (Anne Hathaway) & Nigel (Stanley Tucci). The montage at the start gave all the nostalgia to the parallel from the original, Andy and Lily still being friends is really nice to see loved there dynamic. The storyline of the sequel was interesting, Andy coming back to work for Runway which she thought was a fluke, but actually Nigel got her back in, this was so sweet to learn. Miranda in a lot of ways seemed more tame but still quintessential Miranda. I wasn’t sure what the Barnes’ had to do with the storyline until we go to the end and Sasha Barnes buys over Elias Clarke in full to stop Ben Barnes her ex husband, who goes out with Emily ex-Runway employee, from buying Runway. I love Emily played by Emily Blunt but was shocked when she wanted Runway for herself but she was redeemed when her and Andy met up to talk about being friends. You don’t usually get good sequels but this is one of them, a must see in my opinion.
There are so many amazing releases coming in May, see below some of the notable series and a blockbuster sequel that is coming this month and I am so excited to watch every one of them.
The Devil Wears Prada 2: 1st May – When I tell you I am so excited for this, I MEAN IT! When this was announced I legit screamed, such an iconic film and with the return of an incredible cast and some very well known faces making an appearance this could be my movie of the year. From the trailers and teasers on social media it is giving the same energy and I think will be just as witty as the first movie. It comes out tomorrow and I’m having to wait until Monday to see it, so it’s going to be hard not to get spoilers.
Off Campus: 13th May – This is an adaptation of the novel series Off Campus by Elle Kennedy, starting with the first book ‘The Deal’ following Garrett & Hannah. I haven’t read the book but I might try before it comes out as all over social media is people saying what they hope stays true from the book to the series. Since watching the trailer Belmont Cameli (Garrett) is all over my Tik Tok, dare I say he may be the next big thing ahead of Conrad Fisher, big statement to make I know but Prime just manage to make really good book to series adaptations which gives you all the feels.
Rivals S2: 15th May – I love love love this series, I have recommended it to everyone I know and still only a handful of people have watched it. It is so fun and packed full I can’t wait to see where this season goes, I hope Rupert and Taggie get together and possibly something between Danny Dyer’s character Freddie and Lizzie played by Katherine Parkinson. I’m sure I’ll have binged all of Off Campus before this comes out other wise I’ll be getting no sleep trying to get them both watched!
Criminal Minds Evolution: 28th May – This is Season 19 of the hit show, a show I binged watched last year so this is the first new season I have had to wait for, I’m really excited to see where they take it after last season as that kind of comes to a conclusion so surely they are going to pivot. I’m really sad characters like Spencer Reid and Derek Morgan aren’t in the show anymore but glad we still have a lot of the original cast in the show. Also not looking forward to getting an episode a week when I binged the whole thing since they are known for cliff hangers.
First off I just want to apologise for being away I did not want to be gone for so long but time has went so quickly and now here we are start of Summer 2026. However, we have so many good releases coming this year that I feel I just have to dive into it all again. I have been watching loads and one of the things that made me want to blog again was binge watching 9-1-1.
I think it took me around 4 weeks to watch 9 seasons of 9-1-1 and this to me is an example of a show that grips you from the beginning, that you can’t stop watching and it leaves an impact. I wish I had put my thoughts down about each episode or season of 9-1-1 as for me it is now a comfort show and since finishing I have rewatched some episodes already. I hate that I have to wait each week now for new episodes but at least this season is still releasing as we speak, once it ends I will be bored for the summer (dramatic much).
So it’s not a big update but I’m back and looking forward to sharing lots of thoughts. and feelings I have a lot of ideas written down and trying to do lots more on Tik Tok as well, so stay tuned as some exciting things are coming very soon!
